I awoke to static blasting from my tv in the wee hours and saw it was tuned to channel 1 (On Demand). Thinking I'd rolled over on the remote or something I started fumbling with the remote and saw Guide was 'different'. When I got up this morning, I flipped on the tv and once again it tuned to channel 1, but I had changed that eons ago to tune to last channel. Remembering the fog from last night I started playing with it, and it appears the only thing changed was the power on channel and the loss of program reminders I had set. This is an Explorer 4250HDC box, but neither of my DVR's (1 regular, one HD) had been pushed the new software.
So far I'm liking Mystro, seems quicker for On Demand channels..anybody else get the update? Thoughts?
The issues are numerous let me list our favorites after four days of being in "PRE FIOS" buying mood. All previous user settings are lost - Thanks for that upgrade! When moving up and down the channels it will freeze and the only resolution is to Re-Boot box - See step 1. Text on screen from financial shows is distorted. Three technicians have accused us of not having a brighthouse remote - You know what we may soon have a FIOS remote. Picture size is diminished by 25% - 30% their solution Stretch baby so the people look like they have all gained about 30 pounds while either cutting off the legs, heads, arms of various actors. Looks Like I just returned to the basic 640x - 320x resolution of the pre 1990 monitors. Pixels and gaps in picture similar to when watching Direct TV and you have blocks of screen square up for the pixel dance. The new color scheme and text font do not match to the TV. White text on blue background but the total white banner around the screen takes display space away from the text area. The Left of Center light blue background is terrible for reading. I think this kind of sums up our thoughts. To date we have never considered swapping out to FIOS. We have been a TimeWarner/RR/Brighthouse user since the mid 80's. This is not what we expected from the update and working in technology I do understand change is always coming. However, when you have to change your Voice Response system to #1 on pick up " If you are having display problems with the out of tune Mystro update press 1", is indicative of poor planning and chaos at the office. The engineers need to go back to the drawing board. I wonder did we just go the Apple Mac way and now only certain tv's and software will work with the Brighthouse. PSST The lights are out and no one is home and the Verizon guy just knocked on the door.
