The jobs are either as a sys admin on our hosted MSFT Exchange email platform (serving our business customers), which is obviously Windows-based, or as a sys admin on our next-gen VoD platform, which is a mix of Linux, Solaris and Windows. (We also happen to need DBAs if you have that experience.) We have 23 open positions still available...

Depending upon your level of experience, the titles may range from Senior Engineer to Senior Sys Admin or Principal Engineer.

Below is a sample job description for one of the teams, as an example.

* This individual will be a member of the team which operates Comcast's cross-platform services such as Caller ID on TV, as well as our Video On Demand navigation Infrastructure and back end content delivery systems for over 25 million video customers and 5 million voice customers.​
* This job involves the full range of activities necessary to deliver services on an end-to-end basis, from working with vendors, to developing and implementing new systems and network designs, deploying new systems and software, performing day-to-day systems administration and operations activities, building or integrating reporting, monitoring, and analytics, etc.​

Major Duties:
* Function as a key technical lead of a team responsible for the day-to-day, 24x7x365 on-call engineering, system administration, and operation of Comcast's VOD (Video on Demand) video delivery systems.​
* Participate as a Team Lead in the design, administration and implementation of new technical features and architecture changes to the Video on Demand content management and delivery systems.​
* Provide technical leadership for the proactive management of design, implementation and stability of complex systems and associated support infrastructure and processes.​
* Perform Solaris and Linux operating system installation, upgrades, patching, tuning, and troubleshooting.​
* Design, Scope and Implement automation techniques and tooling to allow for rapid and consistent deployment of application code, configurations and components.​
* Perform application software installation, upgrades, and troubleshooting, including Oracle, Weblogic, Apache, JBoss, etc.​
* Help develop, implement and maintain a capacity model, total cost of ownership model and augmentation plan for the platform.​
* Participate in planning, testing and execution of system and application level upgrades.​
* Perform troubleshooting and problem resolution activities with other support teams (e.​g.​ network support, NOC, vendors).​ Produce Root Cause Analysis findings that focus on recommendations to learn from and avoid problem recurrence.​
* Participation in an on-call rotation for after-hours coverage as needed.​
* Occasional travel.
