Try setting the TV to "just scan" mode (1:1 pixel mapping).
I have Cox Cable in San Diego, using a Scientifc America Explorer 8300HD DVR device via HDMI to my Onkyo HT7100S Receiver, displaying via HDMI on my Samsung LN52A650 set to 16:9 aspect ratio.
I've been experiencing alot of tiling lately, but after several days of rebooting the DVR (for system updates, I presume?), the tiling has gotten better. However, I've noticed that I am losing screen real estate MUCH MORE than ever before - each side is being cut off. I can't even see the network emblem thingies in the corners on the HD channels anymore. I swear I used to be able to with this same setup, so it seems to me it must be a problem from Cox itself.
Does anyone know if this is a Cox signal thing or a problem with my DVR or Receiver or TV? It's driving me crazy!! Cox doesn't give me a straight answer, either. I thought about just trading in my DVR for another one, but if this is just a signal issue from Cox, it probably won't matter, right?
I appreciate your input! I'm not an A/V pro like most of you here, so please use English.![]()

Try going into settings on the cable box and changing the aspect ratio.
