First let me say that any help on this issue is appreciated. I've been sifting through similar posts trying to determine how to resolve my issue.
I recently purchased a 32" Samsung (LN32B540) to replace an older 32" Vizio. I was expecting this to be a rather simple transition but it has been a nightmare thus far. I currently have Comcast High-Def Cable with an Explorer 4250HDC box. (Connected via HDMI 1.3)
I keep experiencing a "Mode Not Supported" error on 480i channels, even to the point where the TV locked up and I had to unplug it from the wall for it to display a picture again.
I thought the proper course of action would be to turn the cable box off and go into the advanced setup guide to pick which resolutions I wanted it to display. I want to ensure that I have the best picture possible, especially with regards to motion. Am I correct that I should select 720p, 480p standard & 480p widescreen and leave everything else off? From other posts I've seen it seems that Samsung's don't tolerate 480i well over HDMI. Is this true? I also saw another post suggesting to alter the normal menu options on my 4250DHC for compatibility/picture quality. Opinions? Seeking expert advice here...
