Default Are VIP 612 ports always on?

I currently have two vip 722 and an older 510 that I own. I have four hdtv sets. I was thinking of just keeping the two vip 722 and running hdmi to one hdtv and component to other tv but that would be alot of cables. Dish will let me trade in the 510 and a vip 722 for two vip 612. I'm thinking this might be easier cause then I would only need to split the 722 to the other hdtv. I wanted to hook up my hava player to one of the vip 612 boxes but need to know if all outputs on the back of the receiver always on. Can I use component to my hava player and hdmi to the tv. Thanks

Yes, they are. All outputs are hot.

Is this also the case with the VIP 722? At the moment, my VIP 722 is connected to my receiver via the HDMI port, and the composite video outputs are connected to a Slingbox Pro HD. However, whenever I turn off my receiver (thus turning off the receiving end of the HDMI connection) the composite port stop outputting to the Slingbox.

    Is that intended behavior?
