In NW region analogue TV has stopped.
I can't get VCR to work at all now when connected to DVDR.
All equipment is Panasonic, but Panasonic UK do not seem able to solve this problem.
The DVDR does not have an analogue tuner.
TV TX-26LMD70 and DVD DMR-EX78EB
and VCR NV-SD400 are all connected as page 78 of DVD Manual.
But I can't get VCR to playback to TV or record.
No VCR menu on TV. What to do?
I would like to be able to:
1 watch digital TV
2 record digital TV on DVD Recorder
3 watch VHS tapes on TV set
4 record VHS tapes onto DVD Recorder
Firstly, with TV-VCR-DVDR all connected together as page 78 of DVDR Manual [details below], the TV and DVDR work fine, receiving and recording any digital TV programs.
The problems arise when I try to play tape on VCR.
No matter which Input I select on TV, I cannot get the VCR playback to appear on TV screen.
The VCR has only 2 SCART sockets - no other types like audio/video or S-video.
As a check on VCR I have set up the TV and VCR without the DVDR.
I used SCART lead to connect VCR AV1 to TV AVI .
Then selecting TV input as AV1, when playing a VHS tape in the VCR the sound and picture appear fine on TV.
Also using MENU on VCR remote I can get SETTINGS on TV which allows me to manually set clock on VCR.
But when I connect DVDR,VCR & TV as page 78, I cannot get VCR playback on TV.
Is there some extra tuning process in VCR or DVDR which I need to do?
If so, what?
Or is page 78 incorrect or incomplete?
For reference I give details of my connections, which
are based on page 78 of DVDR Manual.
RF
Aerial to RF IN on DVDR
RF OUT on DVDR to RF IN on VCR
RF OUT on VCR to RF IN on TV
SCART
AV2 [lower] on VCR [INPUT ONLY] left blank - no connection
AV1 [upper] on VCR to AV2 [lower] on DVDR
AV2 [upper] on DVDR to AV2 on TV
Any ideas?
I suggest that you change the DVDR connection to:
DVDR scart 1 to TV scart 1
VCR scart 1 to DVDR scart 2
With the DVDR in standby, you should see a picture from the VCR via the scart connection. If not press the AV button on the TV remote followed by the red button (twice) if necessary. To record onto DVDR from VCR, select AV2 on the DVDR as the source.
