Thread: TIme Warner Cable and new HD set top boxes?

I keep reading rumors about new HD boxes becoming available for new Time Warner Cable customers. There are two specific models, one is the Motorola HD DVR and the other is a Samung DVR. Both are suppose to be able to record up to 3 programs at the same time. Don't have model numbers at this time, however, I have called Time Warner on two occasions and the reps don't seem to have a clue as to what I'm talking about. One guy suggested that the current Scientific Atlanta boxes that they provide are the most current and best cable dvr boxes available. I started laughing because I know for a fact those boxes have been around for at least 10 years, maybe more. I've been subscribing to Time Warner for the last 15 years, so obviously he didn't have a clue. Anyone know if we have the most current boxes or is there something coming out in the near futre? BTW I live in west Texas.

The hardware used in a cable system (area) is based on what the local platform will support; either Motorola or SA. If you are currently in an SA area, you won't be able to use Motorola hardware. I'm not sure what platform the Samsung runs on.
