I have one of the older CM4228 antennas on a 30 foot tower which has worked pretty good but 4 of my Tampa stations are VHF. I've got a 7698P coming in today and need some advice on how to combine them or whether to combine them at all. I'm 60 miles north of Tampa and all but one of the stations is 2edge. I can get most of the stations at night but depending on atmospheric conditions some fade in and out.
My current setup is:
CM4228 on Channel Master rotor connected to AP8275 preamp mounted 2 feet below 4228. Approximately 50ft RG6 to Motorola distribution amp with single output. A four way splitter connects to 2 inputs on a HDHomerun and 1 input to LCD TV with the 3 cables less than 10 feet each. The fourth line goes about 75 feet to another TV.
If the 4228 and the 7698 are in the same direction will they cancel each other? I'm actually thinking of pointing the 4228 either North to Ocala where I can only pick up one station (Fox51) or more likely east towards Orlando where I can sometimes pick up 10-15 more stations(only at night). If the 4228 is 90 degrees from the combo antenna what is the effect? I've got more time than money so I can play with the setup a bit but being a gramps I'd like to limit the number of times I have to climb the ladder to the roof and then the tower.
