The Cable Center has added four new members to its board of directors.
The cable industry's nonprofit educational arm elected Kimberly Edmunds, senior vice president, customer operations for Cox Communications, Peter Kalan, president and CEO of CSG Systems, Paul Liao, president and CEO of CableLabs and Josh Sapan, president and CEO of Rainbow Media Holdings, to three-year terms. were elected to three-year terms on the board.
"We are pleased to welcome these industry leaders to The Center's board," said Larry Satkowiak, president and CEO of The Cable Center, in naming the new board members. "Their extensive industry knowledge and experience will be a real asset to us as we continue to move forward with our programs and initiatives that serve both the cable industry and the academic community."
As senior vice president of customer operations for Cox Communications, Edmunds creates a seamless experience for customers across all product lines and communication channels. A member of Multichannel News's 2011 Wonder Woman class, Edmunds joined Cox in 1996 and before that served for 10 years in customer service management roles. She is an active member of Women in Cable Telecommunications, and is a fellow of its Betsy Magness Leadership Institute.
Kalan, who was also elected to the Cable Center board in 2007, joined CSG in January 1997 and held numerous executive leadership positions for the organization before ascending to the CEO and president roles. Prior to joining CSG, he was CFO at Bank One, Chicago, and he also held various other financial management positions with Bank One in Texas and Illinois from 1985 through 1996.
Liao joined CableLabs as president and CEO from Panasonic Corp. of North America, leading the research and development organization that charts the cable television industry's course in technology. Liao is a recipient of the IEEE Millennium Medal and a past president of the IEEE Lasers and Electro-Optics Society.
As president and CEO of Rainbow Media, Sapan has oversight for some of most popular and award-winning entertainment brands, including AMC, IFC, Sundance Channel, We TV, Wedding Central, Sundance Selects and IFC Films. Sapan serves on numerous entertainment industry boards including: the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing Education Foundation and the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications. He was last year's recipient of a National Cable & Telecommunications Association Vanguard Award for the programmers community.
