Time Warner Cable has upgraded to DOCSIS 3.0 next-generation cable modem technology in parts of the Cincinnati market, where it is currently offering higher-speed services to business customers.
The nation's No. 2 operator last fall launched DOCSIS 3.0-based broadband services for consumers and businesses in New York City, where it faces competition from Verizon's FiOS Internet service.
In Cincinnati, the operator's Business Class Wideband customers have the choice of two new premium speed tiers: up to 20 Megabits per second downstream and 2 Mbps upstream for $309.95 per month and up to 50 Mbps downstream and 5 Mbps upstream for $349.95 per month.
TWC Cincinnati has not announced timing for DOCSIS 3.0 residential offering.
"Wideband Internet features our fastest speeds yet and is easily adapted to a customer's current service in just days," John Bell, president of Time Warner Cable Business Services Midwest, said in a statement. "With today's announcement of this revolutionary technology, Time Warner Cable Business Services reinforces its position as an area leader in innovative telecommunications, data and entertainment solutions."
