FiOS TV Adds Comcast Network In Philly, N.J. Regions
Verizon's FiOS TV on Thursday launched the Comcast Network -- whose programming includes live games and replays of select Phillies, Flyers and 76ers games -- for customers in the Philadelphia and Harrisburg, Pa., areas as well as southern New Jersey and Delaware.
"We welcome Verizon FiOS as a distribution partner for The Comcast Network and look forward to sharing our Phillies coverage and other programming with FiOS subscribers," Comcast spokesman Tim Fitzpatrick said.
Deal terms were not disclosed.
The Comcast Network is available on FiOS TV channel 99 in those markets. The FiOS TV lineup in Philly, southern New Jersey and Delaware already includes the Comcast SportsNet regional sports network in standard- and high-definition.
In addition to some live games and replays from the Phillies, 76ers and Flyers, the Comcast Network features live college basketball and lacrosse games from a variety of conferences, including CAA and tjhe Ivy League. In addition, the channel offers local news and public affairs programming with TV personalities from the region.
Comcast has a majority ownership in Comcast-Spectacor, which owns the 76ers and Flyers. Verizon had not registered any program-access complaint with the Federal Communications Commission with respect to the Comcast Network.
