Cablevision Resolves E-Mail Issues
Cablevision Systems said it had resolved the e-mail problems some of its subscribers encountered on Thursday and Friday.
"The e-mail disruption has been resolved. The issue was caused by a digital mail storage device malfunction," the company said in a statement Friday afternoon. "We believe that this was an extremely rare, one-time problem after more than a decade of uninterrupted e-mail service and that no customer e-mail was lost. We apologize to our customers and thank them for their patience."
Cablevision officials indicated that the interruption to some of its Optimum Online customer began around midday on Thursday.
The cable company said the interruption affected a minority of customers throughout its service footprint, with the problem not geographically confined to one area.
The MSO emphasized that customer Internet access wasn't affected, nor were any non-Cablevision e-mail services such as Yahoo and Gmail.
