How do satellite providers get local channels up to
I'm curious, I live near Pensacola, Florida and subscribe to Dish, we have our local ABC affiliate, PBS as well as Mobile, Alabama network channels available via satellite. Does anyone know how the satellite providers get these signals up to the satellites? How big an area are they broadcast to? If anyone knows the details, inquiring minds need to know!!

Re: How do satellite providers get local channels up to
There are local antennas that receive the stations. The signals are then uplinked via satellite or sent over fiber to their main facility. The channels are then uplinked to the satellites that your home dish is receiving.
Some stations may also have a direct fiber feed to Dish and Directv.
Directv has a page listing the locations for each market they have locals for. »www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global/co···P1400108
Dish may have something like this as well.
