Thinking of paying for a coax ext.
I've been looking for the shortest way to get cable to my house. The shortest way is, about 1 mile, how much would that cost? and what department of the company would I talk to? I do not know who the cableco is in that town.
And my friend lives about 1/8 to 1/4 mile from the end of Coax cable from the same town, same thign I need an estimate.

Well, life is not always simple.
There are two kinds of coax on the poles - trunk and feeder. The node feeds the trunk, and bridger amplifiers on the trunk feed the feeders. Feeders have taps and your house connects to a tap.
If you are a mile away from an existing cable, even if it is a trunk, it is unlikely that the cable company can extend it that far. All cable companies have standards about the number of amplifiers in a cascade, etc, which result in keeping almost all connections within a mile of a node.
I would start by walking the circuit from the nearest point back to the node and making note of the distances.
Now for the truly bad news. A mile of cable is well into five figures, if it is possible at all.
Generally a budget estimate is about 7 dollars a foot.
