Question Regarding Local Ad Insertions Satellite vs. Cable
Hello all...long time reader/first time poster. I have a question that hopefully someone knows the answer:
when buying a local ad for the NY market on Satellite TV (Dish and/or Direct TV) is the spot also seen on competing providers? For example, if I buy a :30 sec spot on CNN on Dish and it airs at 6:27 PM, are only the New York Dish viewers capable of seeing the spot, or is it also being seen by New York cable subscribers who may also be watching CNN at that time. NOTE: I would think that the spot is only seen by Dish subscribers. Thanks in advance.

If you buy an ad spot for say Cablevision, they have set prices for certain time slots and channels. Depending on the market you are in, the ad will be viewed in that market. As for Dish and DirecTV, that can't quite do what cable does, while cable can target a select group in a certain market, satellite has to offer a national market giving them a less options to deal with.
