This coming week I'm upgrading my modem to "turbo ready" and upgrading my Time-Warner sevice to "turbo", which is supposed to allow speeds approaching 19 mbs download and 2 mbs upload. I have a 9 year old Linksys BEFSR41 v.2 router which, according to the specs page is only good for 10mbs WAN speed, and it looks like a firmware upgrade will not help that situation -- so, I guess it's new modem time. After some Googling, I see that many routers have 10/100 mbs WAN speeds, which I assume will solve my "bottleneck" problem. I'm running W2K on a Pentium IV machine with plenty of memory and HDD space, but I don't think I need one of the "Gigabit" routers, especially since they all seem to require WinXP or higher. I would like to stick with Linksys, Netgear or D-Link, and need at least 4 wired ports.
