    Question unusual wireless internet problem

Alright,I used to have my internet run through a wire. But now I decided to go wireless, and everything is just bad. I'll say this right away, my upload speed is fine but my download speed is messed up. I have a NETGEAR WN311T and my router is a WPN824v2. My advertised cable speed is 4096kbp/s(download) and 360kbp/s(upload). My problem is that the longer i'm surfing the web, downloading, or running the speed test, my download speed will keep decreasing over time. For example, when I run the speed test on this website for the first time when I start my computer it will be in the 4000's. If I run it right after, it will be in the 2500-3500. And if I keeping running the speed test, it will just keep getting slower and slower until its in the 30's-50's. The reason why I don't think its my software or adapter is because if I run my computer through safe mode, my internet is fine. If I keep running the speed test it will stay up in the 4000's. I have turned off all background programs.( McAfee, quicktime, etc)I went into msconfig and turned off all the startup programs and services, I still get the same thing. When I had wired cable it was fine. I've had wireless internet in the past an had problems with disconnecting, but nothing like this. I tried really hard to explain this the best I could. Any suggestions on what I should do would be greatly appreciated. My last option is just to reformat my computer and start over.

    Default

or the WN311T, the August 2nd 2007 driver may help

The latest firmware for the router is from Nov 15 2006, so you may have that already.
